KMA Announces Massive Alabar Clean-Up On October 3; Shops, Transport To Close Until Noon
The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has announced an all-inclusive clean-up exercise at Alabar in the Afia Kobi Electoral Area on Saturday, October 3, 2026.
In a press release dated September 29, 2026 and issued by its Public Relations Unit, the Assembly said the exercise has become necessary following the Government’s monthly sanitation policy which has coincided with this year’s World Clean-up Day Celebration.
The KMA explained that the World Clean-up Day Celebration is a United Nations-recognised global observance celebrated annually in September to promote environmental stewardship through nationwide clean-up activities and multi-stakeholder partnership.
In view of the exercise, the Assembly has directed that all trading and commercial activities within Alarba and adjoining enclaves remain closed from 6:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon on the day.
The affected stretch includes from Apagyafie Crossroads to Doctor Mensah and from Aboabo Station to Apagyafie Crossroads.
The KMA further reminded all commercial vehicle drivers that no vehicles will be allowed within the operational areas during the stipulated period.
The Assembly, therefore, called on all residents, traders, businesses and commercial drivers in the affected areas to compulsorily participate fully in the exercise to make it a success.
