Ghana, ECOWAS National Office to Launch “ECOWAS For All” Campaign on October 1
Ghana’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the ECOWAS National Office will launch the ECOWAS National Citizens Engagement and Public Sensitisation Campaign on Thursday, 1st October, 2026.
Dubbed “ECOWAS for All,” it will be launched at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Accra.
According to the Ministry, the campaign is being undertaken to bring ECOWAS closer to citizens, promote greater public awareness and understanding of ECOWAS policies, programmes, opportunities and benefits, while encouraging citizens to participate more actively in the regional integration process.
Themed “Bringing ECOWAS Closer to the Citizens: Promoting Awareness, Participation and Opportunities for Regional Integration,” the campaign is intended to bridge information gaps among Ghanaian citizens, particularly traders, transport operators, entrepreneurs, students, youth groups and communities in border areas, on the opportunities and benefits available under ECOWAS protocols.
Key areas of focus will include the ECOWAS Protocol on Free Movement of Persons, Right of Residence and Establishment, as well as the ECOWAS Trade Liberalisation Scheme (ETLS).
The campaign will also provide opportunities for citizens to engage directly with relevant institutions on issues relating to cross-border movement, trade, customs procedures and other regional integration matters.
The launch will bring together representatives of the ECOWAS Resident Mission in Ghana, Ghana Immigration Service, Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority, Ghana Union of Traders Associations (GUTA), academia, civil society organisations, media and other relevant stakeholders.
The launch forms part of a broader series of engagements to be implemented from October to December 2026.
These will include sensitisation activities at Makola and Madina Markets, engagements with communities at the Aflao and Elubo border posts, media and visibility activities and sensitisation workshops for second-cycle and tertiary students.
“Through the campaign, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs seeks to strengthen collaboration among ECOWAS institutions, government agencies and local communities, improve citizens’ understanding of ECOWAS programmes and opportunities, and enhance the visibility and understanding of ECOWAS integration to the Ghanaian public,” the statement said.
