Second Deputy Now Represents BoG on GoldBod Board – Central Bank

The Bank of Ghana (BoG) has confirmed that its Second Deputy Governor, Mrs Matilda Asante-Asiedu, now represents the central bank on the Board of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod).

In a press release dated September 28, 2026, the Bank said it had noted recent public commentary regarding its representation on the GoldBod Board and wished to clarify the position.

According to the statement, the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr Johnson Asiamah, ceased to serve as a member of the GoldBod Board effective May 11, 2026.

“Since that date, the Governor has not participated in any meetings or activities of the GoldBod Board,” the Bank stated.

The BoG explained that the move is in accordance with Section 4 of the Ghana Gold Board Act, 2025 (Act 1140), which provides for representation of the Bank of Ghana on the GoldBod Board by the Governor or an official of the Bank not below the rank of Director.

“In accordance with this provision, the Bank has nominated its Second Deputy Governor, Mrs Matilda Asante-Asiedu, to serve as its representative on the Board,” the statement said.

It added that Mrs Asante-Asiedu has since assumed that role and represents the Bank on the GoldBod Board in fulfilment of the statutory requirement.

The Bank of Ghana reaffirmed its commitment to the highest standards of governance, transparency and the avoidance of any actual or perceived conflict of interest in the discharge of its mandate.
