Ashanti Business Owners Support Kumasi Central Police Station Relocation with ¢200k Donation
The Ashanti Business Owners Association (ABOA) has presented a cheque for GH¢200,000 to support the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly’s (KMA) plan to relocate the Kumasi Central Police Station to a temporary structure.
The donation is to pave the way for the construction of a modern, spacious and fit-for-purpose police station complex by the Assembly.
The KMA requires a total of GH¢750,000 for the construction of the temporary structure, and ABOA’s donation brings total contributions received so far to GH¢410,000.
Mr. Charles Appiah-Kubi, Executive Secretary of ABOA, presented a dummy cheque on behalf of the Association on Friday, September 25, 2026, which was received by the Mayor of Kumasi, Hon. Richard Kwasi Ofori Boadi Agyemang.
He said the gesture formed part of the Association’s efforts to support security in the metropolis and beyond.
Hon. Boadi, receiving the donation, thanked the Association for its continuous support for the development of the city and urged other individuals and corporate bodies to emulate their good example.
He hinted that government has allocated GH¢4.8 million for the construction of the fit-for-purpose Central Police Station complex.
He assured that construction work would begin anytime after the temporary police station is ready for use.
ACP Francis Kouame Somian, Deputy Ashanti Regional Police Commander, thanked the Mayor and the KMA for the initiative to support quality policing in the city, and appealed to the public to support the cause.
