Ghana, Norway To Expand Trade In Oil & Gas, Renewable Energy and AI – Ablakwa
Ghana and Norway have pledged to deepen bilateral cooperation with a focus on expanding trade and investment in key sectors.
The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, disclosed this after holding talks with Norway’s Minister of International Development, H.E. Åsmund Grøver Aukrust, on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
In a Facebook post, Mr Ablakwa described the discussions as fruitful, aimed at further strengthening the longstanding partnership between the two countries.
According to him, the engagement focused on expanding trade and investment, particularly in oil and gas, renewable energy, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and agribusiness.
The two ministers also explored opportunities to deepen cooperation in maritime security, education, skills development and business-to-business engagement.
The ministers further exchanged views on regional security developments in West Africa and Ghana’s efforts to strengthen regional cooperation in combating terrorism and violent extremism.
Mr Ablakwa said they also discussed the implementation of the Ghana-Norway Double Taxation Agreement and mutual support for international candidatures.
He added that he has accepted Norway’s invitation to pay an official visit later in the year.
“Ghana and Norway remain committed to deepening our bilateral and multilateral cooperation for the mutual benefit of our peoples,” the Foreign Minister stated.
