Cyber Security Authority Warns Of AI-Powered Financial Fraud

The Cyber Security Authority (CSA) Ghana has warned the public about the growing use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) by criminals to perpetrate financial fraud.

In a public awareness flyer ahead of the National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NCSAM) 2026, the Authority said criminals are now using AI to create convincing scams, fake voices and phishing messages to defraud unsuspecting victims.

“Criminals are using AI to create convincing scams, fake voices, and phishing messages. Verify unusual requests through trusted communication channels,” the CSA cautioned.

The Authority shared the alert as part of its countdown to this year’s NCSAM, with nine days to go until the official launch.

NCSAM 2026 is on the theme “Securing Ghana’s Digital Future” and is expected to focus on emerging threats including AI-enabled fraud, online scams and cyber hygiene.

The CSA has urged the public to be vigilant, avoid sharing personal or financial information on unverified platforms, and verify any unusual requests for money or sensitive information through trusted and official communication channels.
