Asantehemaa Hosts Seventh Awukudae Festival
The Queen of the Asante Kingdom, Nana Yaa Akyaa II, hosted the seventh Awukudae Festival in the absence of the King, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
The celebration took place on September 23, 2026, at Her Majesty’s palace at Manhyia.
Together with Nananom and royals, the Asantehemaa received guests who trooped in from across the region and beyond.
The occasion afforded the public the opportunity to welcome Her Majesty, pay their respects and extend goodwill messages.
Among those present were Nana Afriyie Owusu IV, Otumfuo Apagyahene, Baffour Kwame Kusi II, Otumfuo Ankobeahene, Otumfuo Kyeame Boasiako, the Fontomfromhemaa, and staff of Opemsuo Radio.
Also paying homage were staff of the Asantehene’s Lands Secretariat and the Association of Thrift Sellers in Kumasi.
The seventh Awukudae Festival was the second since the ascension of the Kusi Amoa Stool by the Asantehemaa.
The festival comes at a time when the King is out of the country on a leave of absence.
