7th Awukudae: Opemsuo Radio Staff Pay Homage to Asantehemaa
Staff of Opemsuo Radio, a subsidiary of the Ashanti Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), have paid homage to the Queen of the Asante Kingdom, Nana Yaa Akyaa II.
The homage was paid during the celebration of the 7th Awukudae Festival at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi on September 23, 2026.
It marked the second Awukudae Festival since the ascension of the Kusi Amoa Stool by the Asantehemaa and provided an opportunity for subjects and well-wishers to pay homage.
The official mouthpiece of the Manhyia Palace leveraged the occasion to extend its well wishes to Her Majesty.
The team was led by the General Manager, Mr Melchizedek Owusu Boachie, and included management members such as the Corporate Affairs Manager, Mr Richard Osei Bonsu, and the Programmes Manager, Mr Fuseini Issah.
Nana Afriyie Owusu IV, Otumfuo Apagyahene, and Baffour Kwame Kusi II, Otumfuo Ankobeahene, also led staff of the Asantehene’s Lands Secretariat to pay their respects.
Other attendees included Otumfuo Kyeame Boasiako, the Fontomfromhemaa, the Association of Thrift Sellers in Kumasi, and the Metro Engineer for the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), Ing. Atta Poku.
Her Majesty received the guests alongside Nananom and royals.
