Ashanti Ambulance Service Moves to Improve Emergency Response

The National Ambulance Service (NAS) in the Ashanti Region has taken steps to strengthen its operations and improve emergency response time across the region.

At a Regional Leaders Meeting held on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, heads and representatives of ambulance stations reviewed operational challenges affecting service delivery and discussed practical strategies for enhancing prehospital care.

The meeting, convened by the Regional Administrative Manager, DCAEMT Sommik Duut Miilon, assessed the Region’s emergency response performance in a session led by the Regional Clinical Auditor, DCAEMT Janfaro Abdulai.

Human resource concerns, staff welfare and deployment issues were also addressed by the Regional Human Resource Officer, SAEMT Stephanie Delali Babanawo, supported by the Deputy Regional Administrative Manager, DCAEMT Martin Alalinga.

A major highlight of the meeting was a training presentation on the use of Celox haemostatic agents for managing severe bleeding during emergencies. The presentation, delivered by SAEMT Mansurat Abdul Ganiyu, underscored the critical role of advanced bleeding control in saving lives before patients reach health facilities.

Participants also deliberated on Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and community outreach as key strategies for building staff capacity and deepening public awareness of the appropriate use of ambulance services.

The meeting ended with an interactive session where station leaders shared field experiences, raised concerns, and proposed solutions to improve operations at their respective stations.

According to the Regional Administration, the engagement forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen collaboration, enhance knowledge sharing, and deliver timely, quality emergency medical care to residents of the Ashanti Region.
