Bawumia Expresses Goodwill Towards Asantehemaa’s Reign

The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has expressed his desire for a successful and impactful reign of the 15th Queen of the Asante Kingdom, Nana Yaa Akyaa II.

During a courtesy call on Her Majesty, he prayed for preservation, longevity and good health, while describing her reign as God-ordained.

“God put you in this seat. You are blessed, and I pray that God will preserve you, give you long life and good health,” he stated.

Dr Bawumia made the remarks during his first courtesy visit to Her Majesty at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi on Wednesday, September 17, 2026.

The former Vice President was accompanied by over 30 Members of Parliament, executives of the NPP, founding members of the party, former Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs), and party supporters.

Notable among them were former Suame MP, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu; Bantama MP, Francis Asenso-Boakye; Deputy Minority Leader, Patricia Appiagyei; Advisor on Gender and Social Protection to the flagbearer, Akosua Manu; and Second Deputy Speaker, Andrew Amoako Asiama.
