Bawumia Receives Asantehemaa’s Blessings

The Queen of the Asante Kingdom, Nana Yaa Akyaa II, has imparted her blessings on the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

This was during a courtesy visit by the former Vice President, who is seeking to become the country’s next President.

The visit on Wednesday, September 17, 2026, was to congratulate Her Majesty on her ascension and seek her blessings for his presidential vision.

Granting his humble request, Her Majesty prayed for him and reminded him that leadership is divinely ordained.

“I will support you with prayers to guide your endeavours,” she said.

The former Vice President was accompanied by over 30 Members of Parliament, executives of the NPP, founding members of the party, former Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs), and party supporters.

Notable among them were former Suame MP, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu; Bantama MP, Francis Asenso-Boakye; Deputy Minority Leader, Patricia Appiagyei; Advisor on Gender and Social Protection to the flagbearer, Akosua Manu; and Second Deputy Speaker, Andrew Amoako Asiama.
