GES Releases 2023 Capitation Grant Arrears to Schools

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has released the 2023 capitation grant arrears to all public basic schools across the country.

According to a letter by the Deputy Director-General (MS) of the GES addressed to all Regional Directors of Education, management of the Service informed the Regional Directors that the capitation grant arrears for 2023 have been transferred to the various accounts of the District Education Directorates for onward disbursement to the schools.

The letter indicated that the funds transferred to the District Account include the Sports and Culture component for the District Offices, while the Regional Sports and Culture components have been transferred to the various designated accounts of the Regional offices.

Regional Directors have therefore been requested to ensure that the funds are transferred to the schools on or before the reopening of the 1st term of the 2026/2027 academic year to enable Heads of Basic Schools to operate seamlessly.

Management also noted that a team from the Headquarters will be visiting the regions for monitoring, and urged Regional Directors to ensure that the funds are transferred to the schools immediately.
