IGP Strengthens Collaboration with Okada Riders
The Ghana Police Service has held a meeting with the leadership of the Okada Riders Association of Ghana (ORAG) to strengthen collaboration with the riders.
The engagement, held at the Police Headquarters, focused on road safety, compliance with traffic regulations and efforts to improve security.
Addressing the riders, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr Christian Tetteh Yohuno, advised them to prioritise road safety by ensuring that their members receive proper training in safe riding practices and comply with road traffic regulations.
He encouraged the Association to regularly educate its members on responsible riding to help prevent road crashes and promote safer road use.
Mr Yohuno further urged the leadership to ensure proper identification of its members and to ensure that all riders are duly registered and comply with licensing and motorbike registration requirements.
Responding, the President of the Okada Riders Association of Ghana, Mr Michael Kofi Owusu, expressed the Association’s willingness to work closely with the Police Service to improve its operations and support efforts to promote safety and reduce crime.
The IGP assured the riders that the Police Administration will continue to engage them and address their concerns in order to improve cooperation between the two sides.
