We Are Proud of You – Female Gov’t Officials to Asantehemaa

Female government officials have expressed pride in the ascension of Nana Yaa Akyaa II to the Kusi Amoa Stool as the 15th Queen of the Asante Kingdom.
The delegation, which included Presidential Staffers, Cabinet Ministers, Ministers of State, female Chief Executive Officers, National Executives, Heads of Institutions, female Members of Parliament and Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives, expressed their joy during a visit to the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi on September 14, 2026, to extend their goodwill and congratulatory message to the Asantehemaa.
In their statement read by Nana Oye Bampoe Addo, the leader of the delegation, they affirmed, “We cannot overemphasise how proud we are of your ascension. For more than three centuries, since the founding of Asanteman, the stool of the Asantehemaa has been carried by women of great distinction.”
“On behalf of the President of the Republic, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, we congratulate you most warmly on your enstoolment as the 15th Asantehemaa of Asanteman. And especially on behalf of the Vice President, this all-female delegation has come to extend the goodwill of the Government and people of Ghana,” the statement added.
The delegation also used the occasion to pay tribute to her immediate predecessors, Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II, as well as Nana Yaa Asantewaa, the Queen of Ejisu.
The delegation included Nana Yaa Jantuah, Presidential Aide; Rita Odeley Sowah, Deputy Minister of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs; Hajia Shamima Muslim, Deputy Presidential Spokesperson; and Matilda Asare Asiedu, Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana.
Also present were Pamela Graham, Auditor-General; Daniella Mawusi Ntow Sarpong, Chief Fire Officer; COP Lydia Yaako Donkor, Director-General of the Criminal Investigation Department; Obuobia Darko-Opoku, Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Medical Trust Fund; Getrude Emefa Donkor, CEO of Ghana Gold Board Jewellery; Felicia Adjei, Kintampo South MP; and Faustilove Appiah Kannin, Obuasi West MCE.
