GES Opens Application For Promotion Of Non-Teaching Staff
The Ghana Education Service (GES) has invited applications from suitably qualified serving Non-Teaching Staff for promotion to various upper grades in 2026.
The invitation is contained in a circular dated September 11, 2026, with reference number GES/DD-G(MS)/S1/26/429, signed by the Deputy Director-General (Management Services), Prof. Smile Dzisi (Mrs), for the Director-General.
It said the application window opens from Monday, September 14 to 28, 2026.
According to the circular, the promotion exercise covers the Accounting Class, Internal Audit Class, Non-Accounting Administrative Class, Catering Class, Technical Class, Librarian Class, Supply Class, Laboratory Technician Class, Secretarial Class and Driver Class.
The grades on offer include Chief Accountant II, Deputy Chief Accountant I & II and Principal Accountant, Chief Internal Auditor II, Deputy Chief Internal Auditor I & II and Principal Internal Auditor, Chief Administrative Officer II, Deputy Chief Administrative Officer I & II and Principal Administrative Officer.
Also are Chief Domestic Bursar, Deputy Chief Domestic Bursar and Principal Domestic Bursar, Chief Technical Officer, Deputy Chief Technical Officer and Principal Chief Technical Officer, Chief Librarian, Deputy Chief Librarian and Principal Librarian and Chief Supply Officer.
The rest are Deputy Chief Supply Officer and Principal Supply Officer, Chief Laboratory Technician, Deputy Chief Laboratory Technician and Principal Laboratory Technician, Principal Private Secretary, Senior Private Secretary and Private Secretary, as well as Yard-Foreman, Chief Driver and Principal Driver.
On qualification, the Service stated that an applicant should have been promoted to any of the above-mentioned grades in or before 2022 and should have been continuously at post since that date, except for periods of approved absence.
Applicants must also have very satisfactory work history with good conduct in the Ghana Education Service.
For officers with Master’s Degree and PhD certificates who wish to rely on those qualifications to join the interviews out of turn, GES clarified that the Masters or PhD programme should be on the approved Ghana Education Service course of study, the certificate should not have been obtained before the previous promotion, and the certificate should have been obtained in or before 2023.
Regarding the mode of application, applicants are required to complete the application form online via https://bit.ly/NONTEACHING2026 or scan the QR Code provided in the circular and upload a recent passport-sized photograph.
They are to upload only their last promotion or upgrading letter or appointment letter to the current grade as may apply, and upload only the Masters or Doctorate Degree certificate when using it for promotion. All documents uploaded should be in PDF format, with the exception of the passport-sized photograph and should be clear and readable.
