NACOC Shuts Down Self-Styled Coffee Shop Over Narcotics Trade

The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has shut down the Amsterdam Pub at Laboma following an overnight intelligence-led operation targeting narcotic-related activities at the facility.

The operation, conducted on Friday, September 4, 2026, resulted in the arrest of three suspects who are currently assisting in investigations while a full probe into activities taking place at the entertainment facility is established.

The operation followed intelligence indicating that the facility was being used in connection with narcotic-related activities. Acting on the intelligence, NACOC conducted an overnight operation at the premises, leading to the apprehension of the three suspects.

However, the prime suspect connected to the narcotics activities remains at large.

Additional intelligence officers have been deployed to locate and apprehend the individual as investigations continue.

The self-styled coffee shop has been closed to facilitate ongoing investigations and prevent the premises from potentially being used to facilitate further narcotic-related activities while the case is being pursued.

The operation forms part of a broader intelligence-driven strategy to identify, disrupt and dismantle locations and networks suspected of facilitating the distribution, sale and use of illicit narcotic substances.

Owners, managers and operators of pubs, nightclubs, lounges and other entertainment establishments are warned against allowing their premises to become conduits for narcotic-related activities.

Meanwhile, NACOC will continue to pursue businesses engaged in the sale, distribution or facilitation of illicit narcotic substances.
