Vice President Lauds Dumelo For Promoting Made-in-Ghana Rice

Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has applauded the Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon, Hon. John Dumelo, for actively promoting the consumption of made-in-Ghana rice and other locally produced foods.

In a Facebook post, the Vice President said Ghana must increasingly eat what it grows and grow what it eats.

“We must increasingly eat what we grow and grow what we eat. Choosing locally produced food helps support hardworking Ghanaian farmers, strengthens local businesses, keeps more value within our economy, and creates jobs along the agricultural value chain,” she stated.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang noted that the government will continue to support increased production through initiatives such as the Feed Ghana Programme, but emphasised that government action must be matched by consumer choices.

“Let us proudly consume what Ghana produces,” she urged.

Her comments come amid renewed campaigns to promote local rice consumption and reduce Ghana’s heavy dependence on imported rice.
