GES Releases National Harmonised Prospectus for 2026/27 SHS Admissions

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced the release of the National Harmonised Prospectus for students preparing to enrol in Senior High Schools and Senior High Technical Schools (SHS/SHTS) for the 2026/2027 academic year.

In a statement, the Service said the prospectus covers both prospective boarding and day students and is intended to provide clear guidance on essential items required for enrollment ahead of the release of school placements.

“The general public, especially parents and students preparing to enrol in Senior High School (SHS/SHTS) for the 2026/2027 academic year, is hereby informed of the release of the National Harmonised Prospectus for both prospective boarding and day students,” the GES stated.

According to the GES, parents and students are encouraged to carefully review the prospectus and make the necessary preparations ahead of the commencement of the academic year, while schools and stakeholders are expected to adhere to the requirements to ensure a smooth, consistent and standardised admission process nationwide.

For boarding students, the prospectus lists items including a hard body suitcase or trunk, chop box, drinking cup, plate and cutlery set, toiletries, school-specific sandals, leather slippers and sneakers, socks, pyjamas, underwear, plastic bucket with cover and pail, Bible/Quran and hymn book, pillow, bedsheets, blanket, khaki and white trousers, white dress for ladies, white shirts, mosquito net, school bag, mathematical set and scientific calculator, checked dresses, mattress, school-specific shoes and belt, hoe/cutlass and mosquito repellent.

For day students, the requirements are a mathematical set and scientific calculator, decent school-specific sandals, decent black or white sneakers and a school bag.

In addition, all students are required to buy items from one of three groups for the school. Group 1 includes a pair of hard hand gloves, 5 litres of liquid soap and 1 kg of washing powder. Group 2 includes bleach, a dustpan, long-handle broom and scrubbing brush. Group 3 includes a standing mop and mop bucket, duster and short local broom.

The GES has also directed that all personal items should be embossed or embroidered with the student’s name.

The Service said the early release of the prospectus is to ensure that all newly admitted SHS students are adequately prepared to begin the academic year.
