Asantehene Appeals to U.S-Based Asantes to Support Hometown Development

The King of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has appealed to Asantes residing in the United States (U.S.) to keep their roots in mind and contribute within their means towards local community development.

According to him, contributing to grassroots development directly honours his broader vision for the growth and socio-economic transformation of Asanteman.

Otumfuo said this while citing examples of diaspora groups adopting schools, drilling boreholes, and sponsoring university students.

“Keep those of us in Ghana and Kumasi in mind. Do whatever little you can in your hometown to support Asanteman. If you cannot do it on a large scale, consider the small contributions you can make. Let us unite to spur development across Asanteman and Ghana.”

The Asantehene made the call during the Akwasidae Festival celebration in the U.S. on August 30, 2026.
