Anonymity Does Not Mean Immunity – CID Boss Warns Cyber Criminals

The Director General of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service, COP Lydia Yaako Donkor, has issued a strong warning to cyber criminals who believe the internet provides anonymity.

“To cyber criminals who believe the internet provides anonymity, let me be clear: anonymity does not mean immunity,” COP Donkor stated during an address at an event.

She assured that the CID and its partners will continue to strengthen intelligence-led investigations, digital forensics and international cooperation to identify, disrupt and prosecute offenders.

“This is a promise I make,” she added.

COP Donkor’s statement comes amid growing concerns over cybercrime and online fraud in the country, with security agencies stepping up efforts to combat digital crimes through advanced forensic tools and cross-border collaboration.
