In the citation, the University said Otumfuo has demonstrated extraordinary leadership and an enduring commitment to the advancement of education, the preservation of Asante and Ghanaian heritage, and the empowerment of present and future generations.

It said the Asantehene’s visionary leadership has strengthened the role of education as an instrument of opportunity, cultural stewardship, social progress and sustainable development, while inspiring communities throughout Ghana, across the African continent and around the world.

The University, a historic 1890 Land-Grant institution, said it shares the Asantehene’s profound belief in the transformative power of education and in preparing future generations to lead, serve, innovate and contribute meaningfully to an increasingly interconnected world.

The honour was conferred on the historic occasion marking the establishment of a Memorandum of Understanding between Virginia State University, through the Dr. George H. Bennett Office for International Education, and the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.

The citation noted that the MOU celebrates a new chapter of educational, cultural, scholarly and international cooperation between Ghana and the United States.

It added that Otumfuo’s steadfast support for education and international partnership embodies the ideals upon which the collaboration is founded and strengthens the enduring bonds connecting the people and institutions of Ghana and the United States.

The University resolved to proudly extend its highest recognition and profound respect to Otumfuo for his distinguished leadership, exemplary service, preservation of cultural heritage and extraordinary global impact.

It further resolved that the Presidential Citation should commemorate the historic occasion and stand as an enduring testament to its shared conviction that education transcends borders, heritage strengthens identity and global partnership creates pathways to opportunity, understanding and prosperity for generations to come.
