IGP Promotes Police Inspector For Saving Lives During Fire Outbreak

The Inspector-General of Police, Mr Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has promoted Inspector Hance Atubra of the Tarkwa Divisional Headquarters to the rank of Chief Inspector for his role in saving lives during a fire outbreak at Aboso in the Western Region.

The fire outbreak occurred on August 26, 2026, when shops at the Aboso Main Lorry Station were engulfed in flames, resulting in damage to properties.

According to the Police, Inspector Atubra was the first Police officer to arrive at the scene and immediately took action to assist people trapped in the affected area and helped to evacuate victims to safety.

His actions were highly commended by eyewitnesses who were present at the scene, leading to a recommendation for his promotion in recognition of his courage, quick response and efforts to save life and property.

The Ghana Police Service said the promotion underscores the Police Administration’s commitment to recognising and rewarding officers who demonstrate exceptional courage, dedication and commitment to duty.
