Ghana Embassy In Paris Outlines Visa Requirements For Travellers To Ghana
The Embassy of Ghana in Paris has outlined the requirements for visa applications for persons travelling to Ghana.
According to a document from the Embassy at 8 Villa Said, 75116 Paris, visa applications must meet a set of general conditions that apply to all categories of applicants.
The application form must be completed in two copies and in capital letters.
The applicant’s passport must be valid for at least six months and must have at least two blank pages opposite each other.
Applicants are required to provide two recent colour passport-sized photographs taken not more than six months prior to application, showing the full face without hat, cap and sunglasses.
They must also attach a photocopy of their round-trip ticket or an attestation from a travel agency, a photocopy of their Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate, as all persons entering Ghana are required under domestic health regulations to have a valid certificate of immunisation against Yellow Fever, a photocopy of the applicant’s passport, and a photocopy of their French Residence Permit or Student Card.
The Embassy stated that minors and children under the age of 18 travelling to Ghana need written parental authorisation, including copies of the parents’ passports and residence permit. Applicants who wish to mail their applications to the Mission must provide a self-addressed envelope with a regular Post Office Express Mail Stamp or Registered Stamp for return postage.
For official and business visas, applicants are required to present an attestation letter from their employers in France, invitation letters from their hosts in Ghana together with a copy of the host’s passport, and a copy of the host’s residence or work permit if the host is not a Ghanaian national, as well as evidence of means of sustenance while in the country.
Students travelling to study in Ghana are required to produce admission letters from their institution or university, including dates of enrolment and a copy of their student card.
Those travelling to Ghana for paid employment should provide offer letters of Immigrant Quota from the Ghana Immigration Service, while applicants travelling to undertake voluntary work should provide letters of offer of voluntary work from reputable or registered entities in Ghana.
For tourist visas, the Embassy requires an invitation letter from a host in Ghana, including full residential and postal address, telephone number and email address, a photocopy of the passport of the host or sponsor, and the work or residence permit of the host if the host is not a Ghanaian national.
Applicants are also required to provide an attestation from a hotel duly signed and stamped by an accredited staff member confirming their reservation, with the Embassy noting that unsigned email communication will not be accepted, in addition to a personal contact name, address and telephone number in Ghana in case of emergency.
The Embassy said visas will only be issued when all the requirements have been fully satisfied, and a maximum of five working days would be required for the processing of visas depending on the category of service chosen by the applicant.
Applicants are therefore required to deposit their passports together with the completed visa application forms and supporting documents well ahead of their proposed date of travel in order to avoid possible delays.
The Mission added that all documents must be presented in English and duly completed, and that incomplete applications submitted with inadequate information or requirements will not be accepted.
