GES Interdicts Two Watchmen Over Alleged Sexual Assault Of Special Needs Student At Bolgatanga Girls SHS

Management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) has interdicted two watchmen of Bolgatanga Girls Senior High School following allegations of sexual assault involving a student of the school.
In a press release dated August 20, 2026, and signed by the Head of Public Relations, Daniel Fenyi, the GES said it had received a disturbing report of the alleged assault perpetrated by the two watchmen.
According to preliminary reports, the victim is a special needs student who is on medication. The GES said on the day of the incident, the student reportedly suffered a relapse and required medical attention, and it was during that period that the alleged incident occurred.
As an initial step, the two watchmen were arrested and handed over to the Police for further investigation.
“In addition, Management has interdicted them with immediate effect,” the statement said.
The Service said thorough investigations into the matter are currently ongoing and based on the outcome, Management will apply appropriate sanctions in accordance with the GES Code of Conduct and the laws of Ghana.
“Management cautions all staff of the Service to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and to protect the safety, dignity and wellbeing of every student,” the statement added.
It further cautioned that the Service will not tolerate any conduct that compromises the safety and wellbeing of students.
“Management assures parents, guardians and the general public that the matter is being treated with the seriousness it deserves,” the GES concluded.
