Six Injured After Car Plunges Into Birem River at Biremso

Six people sustained injuries after a Toyota Corolla plunged into the Birem River at Biremso on the Accra-Kumasi Highway, near Anyinasin Junction, on Tuesday morning.

An eyewitness told rescuers he heard a loud crash and rushed to the scene, where he found a black Toyota Corolla with registration number GR 1425-18 submerged in the river.

Members of the public had already rescued the occupants from the vehicle before the arrival of the fire crew and conveyed them to the Hawa Saviour Memorial Hospital for medical attention.

The GNFS confirmed that six male occupants sustained injuries. No fatalities were recorded.

The vehicle was completely damaged, though some personal belongings were recovered from it.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
