Nana Abu Pra III Swears Allegiance to Asantehene as Praasohene

Nana Abu Pra III, Praasohene, has sworn allegiance to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, officially recognising the authority of the Golden Stool.
The Asantehene accepted his oath on August 17, 2026, after he was presented by his family and divisional chiefs.
Before granting his request, His Majesty advised him to prioritise his traditional duty to the Manhyia Palace.
“Asante Akyem is mine. Come and serve with plantain from the land. You must also bring me fish from River Pra.”
His Majesty also charged him to steer development within the jurisdiction.
“Your people wholeheartedly followed you here today. They have shown you love and support. As you go back today, devise means to repay them with development. Revive the town. Live up to the confidence reposed in you.”
Another matter of importance to the Asantehene was the Great Oath, to which he enjoined the new chief to honour.
“The Great Oath has kicked many out. If you are unlucky, you will soon be kicked out if you desecrate it.”
His Majesty also encouraged him to lead with humility, reminding him that everyone in the town was his responsibility.
“The wise, the unwise, the mentally deranged, the poor are all in your care.”
In addition, Otumfuo charged him to uphold the stool by performing all the needed rites.
Clutching the sword, Nana Abu Pra III pledged his undiluted allegiance to the Golden Stool and its occupant.
