Asantehene Constitutes Committee to Probe Antoa Krobo Stool Dispute

The Occupant of the Golden Stool, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has constituted a committee to investigate a dispute involving the Antoa Krobo stool.

The committee members are the Pramsohene, Taahyenhene, Baworohene, Abountemhene and Kyeame Kwaku Wusu.

The committee was inaugurated on August 17, 2026, with a directive that all activities on the land should cease until the case is resolved.

In constituting the committee, Otumfuo acknowledged a lingering land dispute between the Krobo Dikro and the Antoahene, and urged the parties to exercise patience.

“Krobo belongs to the Antoahene. Let’s first deal with the stool dispute, and after that we will look into other issues.”

Background
The Antoa Krobo stool has come under contention with two parties laying claim to it under the Great Oath.

The parties are led by one Afia Gyabua and the Krobo Dikro.

Afia Gyabua asserts that the stool belongs to her family and that the current Dikro is not a royal.

The Dikro also contests the claim.
