St Louis SHS Grateful to Asantehene for Two-Storey Teachers’ Quarters

St. Louis Senior High School has expressed gratitude to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, for financing a two-storey teachers’ residence on the school campus.

Briefing the Manhyia Palace on the background of the project, Nana Adu Mensah, Amakomhene, recalled that during a visit to the school in January 2024 by Otumfuo, stakeholders collaborated to identify critical infrastructure needs, highlighting the acute deficit in staff housing as a top priority.

“We informed Otumfuo, and as we speak, a two-storey teachers’ bungalow has been constructed and is currently occupied by eight teachers,” the Amakomhene announced. “We came to thank Otumfuo publicly for fulfilling this promise.”

Speaking on behalf of the students, faculty, board, and alumni, the Headmistress of St. Louis SHS, Mrs Ama Kyerewaa Benefo, conveyed the school’s heartfelt appreciation for the intervention, noting its immediate positive impact on staff welfare and campus supervision.

Capitalising on the audience, Mrs Benefo submitted a follow-up appeal to the King for an additional floor to be added to the newly constructed block, which would increase the housing capacity to accommodate 12 teachers.

In his response, the Asantehene acknowledged the gratitude of the school community and assured them of his continued commitment to improving educational infrastructure across Asanteman.

Addressing the headmistress’s request, the Asantehene promised to conduct an on-site assessment upon his return from an upcoming trip abroad.

“When I return, I will visit the school alongside the Amakomhene and Hiahene so we can inspect the facility and determine how to proceed with the proposed additional floor,” Otumfuo stated.
