Asantehene Supports KsTU with Land for VC Residence

The King of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has granted Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) a free land lease in Danyame for the construction of an official residence for the university’s Vice-Chancellor.

The gesture was formally acknowledged during a courtesy call paid by a delegation from KsTU to the Manhyia Palace on the occasion of the 6th Awukudae celebration on August 12, 2026.

The delegation was led by the University Chancellor, Dr Kwabena Addo Kufuor, alongside the University Council Chairman, Prof. Edward Brenya, and the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Gabriel Dwomoh.

Speaking on behalf of the university, Dr Addo Kufuor expressed profound gratitude to Otumfuo for the land grant and the King’s steadfast support toward the growth of the institution.

He reported that KsTU had risen to become the fifth most prominent tertiary institution in the country, with its female engineering students consistently securing first place in national competitions—milestones he attributed to the wise counsel provided by Otumfuo during their periodic visits.

Responding to the delegation, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II stated that although it had been a while since his last visit to the university’s campus, he closely monitors their activities and intends to visit soon.

Expressing confidence in the management team, the Asantehene added that with Dr Kufour at the helm of affairs, he trusts the university will continue to excel.
