16 Occupants of Bus Crashed to Death along Kumasi-Sunyani Highway

Sixteen passengers of a Ford Transit bus have been killed in a road collision with an ambulance at Potrikrom on the Kumasi–Sunyani highway in the Ashanti Region.

The crash occurred near Mankranso in the Ahafo Ano South East District. The Ford Transit bus, with registration number GT 6576-19, was travelling from Kumasi towards Drobo, while the ambulance was reportedly conveying a pregnant woman from Drobo to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi.

The identities of the deceased are yet to be confirmed.

The condition of the pregnant woman and other occupants of the ambulance remains unclear.

The bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the Mankranso Hospital mortuary pending identification and autopsy.

Reacting to the incident, the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Frank Amoakohene, expressed his condolences to the bereaved families.

In a brief message after receiving news of the accident, he said, “May their souls rest in peace.”
