Zenator Rawlings Discusses Traditional Leadership Empowerment With Asantehene

The Member of Parliament for Klottey Korle Constituency, Zenator Rawlings, has held discussions with the King of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, on strategies to enhance the capacity of traditional authorities.

She deems the institution of traditional leadership relevant and thereby the need for its empowerment.

In a Facebook post, the lawmaker who is also a royal of the Kingdom and daughter of the late former President Jerry John Rawlings, said her discussion with her “uncle” also featured efforts to streamline the role of Queens in peacebuilding.

“We discussed, among other things, the role of traditional leaders, especially queen mothers, in peace-building, and the importance of bridging the gap between modern governance and traditional authority.”

The private interaction between the King and Zenator was at the Manhyia Palace on July 23, 2025.
