Wontumi Multimedia Issues Unqualified Apology To Manhyia
The General Manager of Wontumi Multimedia, Kofi Agyei, has pleaded for forgiveness over some derogatory remarks by one of their show hosts, Lawyer Maurice Ampaw.
Lawyer Ampaw put the media organization on the wrong side of traditional rulers over the weekend when he used some unprintable words on them during his show while reacting to a summon issued by the Kumasi Traditional Council to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the media house, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, known as Chairman Wontumi.
His utterances have culminated in a summon for himself and the management of the media organization for answers.
“He (Wontumi) should come along with Maurice Ampaw and the Management of his media house so they answer why they decided to use their air time to disrespect Nananom,” the Council ordered on Monday when leadership of the NPP appeared before them without Chairman Wontumi.
Ahead of their visit to the Manhyia Palace on January 29, the Management of the radio station has issued an unqualified apology to the authorities.
“He erred in his speech and spoke against traditional authorities at the Manhyia palace. It was wrong and so we are here to apologise. Management of the media house will go to the Palace but ahead of that, we want to use this channel to render an unqualified apology. We are on our knees. We plead that the traditional authorities forgive us,” Mr Agyei said during one of their broadcasts on Monday evening.
“Indeed, pre-production work takes place but the premeditated views of hosts cannot be known. We would like to state that Wontumi Multimedia can never use this medium to disrespect authorities. Who are we? Manhyia Palace has provided us with this land to work.”
