Why Kennedy Agyapong, Hopeson Adorye, 3 Others Will Face NPP Disciplinary Committee
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has said five members of the party will be summoned before its Disciplinary Committee following their conducts during the Super Delegates Conference on Saturday, August 26, 2023.
They include Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, one of the flagbearer hopefuls, Hopeson Adorye, a member of the Alan Campaign and Raphael Patrick Sarfo, Charles Dokyi Yaw-Addo and Musa Suleman.
According to the party, their referral is in accordance with Article 10(7) (5) of its constitution following their alleged violation of provisions outlined in Article 3(5)(a) and Article 4(7) of the party’s constitution.
It added, “Emphasis must be placed on the fact that Hon Kennedy Agyapong, pursuant to the above-mentioned constitutional provisions, will also be summoned before the Disciplinary Committee of the party to provide responses and further details to the accusations and threats he made against certain personalities…”
Kennedy Agyapong
The Member of Parliament for the Assin Central Constituency was captured in a viral video threatening
action against the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia who is also vying for the flagbearership position.
According to him, his agent at one polling station where the super delegates conference was taking place had been chased out by cohorts of the President and his vice.
The flagbearer hopeful stated that he would challenge them at any time and expose them.
Hopeson Adorye
Hopeson on the other hand in an interview with the media at one polling station alleged the Chief of Staff of the President, Akosua Frema Opare had influenced the election through vote buying.
According to him, she distributed huge sums of money to delegates after they voted in favour of the Vice President.
He also alleged that she is bid as a running mate to Dr Bawumia if he wins the November 4 polls of the NPP.
Super Delegates Conference
The NPP undertook its Super Delegates Conference on Saturday, August 26, 2023, to trim down the number of presidential aspirants of the party from 10 to five.
The ten included Mahamudu Bawumia, Ken Agyapong, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, Owusu Afriyie Akoto, Boakye Agyarko, Francis Addai Nimoh, Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, Joe Ghartey, Kwadwo Poku and Kofi Konadu Apraku.

The fifth place is yet to be decided as it came out a tie between Boakye Agyarko and Francis Addai Nimoh who garnered 9 votes each.
The Party says an election will be held on September 2 to fill the fifth place.
Meanwhile, the hopes of Kwabena Agyei Agyepong (6), Joe Ghartey (4), Kwadwo Poku (3) and Kofi Konadu Apraku (0) have been outrightly dashed.
