What Minority Leader is Doing Now Isn’t What I did – Speaker Bagbin

The Speaker of Ghana’s Parliament, Rt Hon Aban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has rejected claims that Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin is taking inspiration from his previous leadership as Minority Leader.

According to him, the tangent taken by Alexander doesn’t reflect his leadership.

“What the Minority leader is doing now is not what I did. He has copiously referred to you people that he took inspiration from my record. Please go and read my record. I never on the floor raise my voice.

“I never, on the floor, tried to show grandeur. No. I studied the ecology, tested the pulse of the people and played along with that. I didn’t do what you are doing, please.”

He, however, recalled a fractious moment in his relationship with the then Speaker, Rt Hon Peter Adjetey, which he accordingly tackled, albeit outside the floor of Parliament.

This incident, he recognised, has been referred to as an inspiration by many Minority Leaders.

“I am saying this because this has been referred to many times by many people who behaved the same way as the Minority leader.”
