What Makes Secular Musicians Sinners-Obaapa Christy Quizzes
Gospel musician and now ‘an ordained Reverend Minister’, Obaapa Christy has stated that being a highlife or hip-life artist doesn’t classify one as a sinner.
She noted that not all and sundry can be gospel artists yet each song has its relevance.
“Being highlife or a hip-life artist doesn’t make you the devil or a sinner. Everyone has his/her work apportioned. Some people compose wise songs but the name of God might not necessarily be reflected. Those songs speak about the issues of life. That doesn’t make the person a sinner.”
Speaking in an interview on Accra-based Neat FM, the award-winning songstress stressed that even if the person is a sinner, it is for such that Christ came.
Obaapa Christy added that collaborating with secular musicians will be an opportunity to win them for Christ.
“We have to get close to them and turn them to God. Do not discriminate because, for all you know, you might not be good enough. No one is perfect in life”, she stated.
She referenced ‘Waye awie’, one of her songs with Kuame Eugene, highlife and afrobeat songster and songwriter in the Ghanaian industry.
She also hinted at her recent meeting with contemporary highlife musician, Kwabena Kwabena, however failed to give further details of their meeting.
