West Ham Sack Head Coach Julen Lopetegui
West Ham United have parted ways with Head Coach Julen Lopetegui.
He leaves alongside his five backroom staff namely Assistant Head Coach Pablo Sanz, Head of Performance Oscar Caro, Head Analyst Juan Vicente Peinado, Fitness Coach Borja De Alba and Technical Coach Edu Rubio.
The Hammers in a press statement issued on January 8, 2025, said the termination of the Manager’s contract is in line with the club’s objectives.
According to the Hammers, 58-year-old’s administration in the first half of the 2024/25 season has not “aligned with the Club’s ambitions”.
“West Ham United can confirm that Head Coach Julen Lopetegui has today left the Club,” it said and added, “The Board would like to thank Julen and his staff for their hard work during their time with the Hammers and wish them every success for the future.”
Meanwhile, it announced that the process of appointing a replacement is underway.
West Ham has won only one of their last five games in the Premier League games.
In their last game on Saturday, they lost by 4-1 to Manchester City. Prior to that they had succumbed to a 5-0 defeat by Liverpool. They are now 14th on the league log with 203 points from 20 games.
