We’re Up Against A Very Good Team- Hughton On USA
The head coach of the Black Stars, Chris Hughton has admitted his boys will be up against a really good side in their highly anticipated clash at the GEODIS Park, Nashville in Tennessee.
At a presser on Monday, October 16, he said the team had monitored the United States Men’s National Soccer Team (USMNT) game against Germany on Saturday and judged they were a good side despite their loss.
“We have watched a lot of games, we watched the recent game against Germany and I think it was a game of two halves. The USA did really good particularly in the first half but of course up against a very good and experienced German team.”
Outlining the opponent’s advantages, Hughton said the challenges for his side were obvious.
“We are up against a very good team that has got good experience with very good ranking and of course playing at home.”
He added, “So we know the challenges are high and this is the reason why we are here.”
After losing to their respective opponents in their first friendlies, Ghana and the USA will be looking forward to chalking some favourable results today, October 17.
Ghana gave away two goals to Mexico on Saturday. Reacting to the score line during his presser, Hughton said the game was challenging.
“We had a very challenging game of course on Saturday. In the first half of the game, we competed and competed very well and conceded two poor goals but you can’t do that against that type of quality.”
On the other hand, Germany came from behind to thrash their hosts 3:1 in another friendly in the US.
Christian Pulisic scored a stunning goal to give the U.S. an early lead but the visitors stormed back through Ilkay Gundogan, Niclas Fullkrug and Jamal Musiala.
