We’ll Overhaul Our Delegates System- Bawumia

Former Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has disclosed the New Patriotic Party’s plan to overhaul the delegates system used in electing executives and flagbearers.

This, he said, is on the back of the findings and recommendations of the Oquaye Investigation of the cause of the party’s heavy defeat in the 2024 elections.

“You can expect without any doubt that the delegate system is going to be changed. Then we will change the delegates system and allow more people to vote,” he said while speaking at the launch of the party’s post-election Thank You tour in Accra on April 23.

“What is important also is that it has made very important recommendations for this party and those recommendations have been forwarded to a constitutional review committee to then look at and bring it back to NEC for us to make certain changes.”

He generally expressed his excitement over the outcome of the report which he said had watered down baseless statements.

“I am very happy with the Oquaye Report. It has put to bed a lot of the propaganda that was going about exactly why we lost the election and I’m very happy about that.”
