We Want To Beat Niger to Avoid Coming Last- Otto Addo
After failing to actualize his purpose of qualifying the Black Stars for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Morocco, head Coach, Otto Addo has developed a new goal.
He now looks forward to avoiding the bottom place of the Group F table by winning their last game against Niger.
Speaking at a press conference in Accra ahead of the game, he expressed his disappointment at failing at his last goal.
“Everybody is disappointed. I’m disappointed. I knew before I took the job that it was going to be very, very difficult because surely the last six, seven, eight years were very, very difficult for the Ghana Football Association, for Ghana as a country…so things are always on the edge, and surely I know we could have done better.”
He is now determined to offer a consolation to Ghanaians by finishing third instead of last.
“And we’re looking forward to the game tomorrow, to beat Niger, not to end up last…We want to beat them to at least, for our honour, get the third place. And this is what we’re working for. I know it’s very, very difficult.”
He also sees an opportunity for the numerous new players in his squad to make a good impression and earn a spot.
“I think it’s a good chance now for a lot of players to show themselves. And hopefully, they will use the chance. And we have seen, I think, some players who used these chances in the last game. And I hope that more players will use this chance.”
Ghana hold three points from five games in the qualifiers.
