We Noticed and Protested Against RTU Players Impersonation- Dreams FC
Dreams Football Club say their players discerned the impersonation of Real Tamale United (RTU) players before kickoff during their game in Dawu on June 12, 2024, which ended 8-1 in favour of the former.
According to a statement released by the 2022/2023 FA Cup winners, they spelt their displeasure by verbally protesting.
“This verbal protest was duly noted and recorded by the match officials before the start of the match.”
They have today filed a protest against the RTU for fielding unqualified players in the game- an outstanding Ghana Premier League match played.
“The protest lodged at the GFA today is in furtherance to verbal protests raised by our Captain and Team Manager before kickoff after doubting the identities of the opposition players during the inspection.”
Background
Reports indicate that the registered RTU players boycotted the game over their six-month unpaid remuneration.
In reaction to this, the Chairman of the club allegedly recruited some second-division players and bused them to play the game, masquerading the real team players.
According to Sports journalist Saddick Adams, the Captain of the RTU confirmed he was in Tamale at the time of the game but was recorded to have played the game in Dawu.
