‘We Don’t Need New Additions In the Currrent Black Stars’ – Jordan Ayew

Black Stars captain, Jordan Ayew despite recent calls for the inclusion of his senior brother Andre Ayew in Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup squad, believes they already have the right group of players to compete, insisting the team does not necessarily need new additions ahead of the big tournament.
Speaking in a recent interview with Accra-based Asempa FM, the experienced forward explained that the players who helped secure qualification deserve the opportunity to represent the country on the global stage.
Ayew pointed out that the team has made steady progress under head coach Otto Addo, highlighting the growing unity within the squad despite the disappointment of missing out on the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
“I think the players who played during the qualifiers have done extremely well,” Ayew said. “I don’t think we need any additions. I believe we have a good team, and as time goes on, we are improving.”
“The unity is getting better and everything is improving. I don’t think this is the right time to make changes.”
The Leicester City attacker played a crucial role in the qualifying campaign, registering 14 goal involvements with seven goals and seven assists as Ghana secured their place at the tournament.
However, Ayew admitted that the final decision on squad selection ultimately lies with the technical team.
“To be honest, on the technical side, the coach will know whom to attach or select,” he added.
Ghana have been drawn in Group L of the tournament alongside England, Croatia, and Panama.
The team will regroup very soon to take on Austria and Germany in March international window. Subsequently, they will face Mexico and Wales to climax their preparations towards the Mundial
