Voters’ Register brouhaha: JOY is a good candidate of failure – Accountant

Political Social Commentator, Mr. Awuni Akyiriba has attacked the position of the 2016 Independence presidential candidate, Mr. Jacob Osei [JOY] as the latter backs calls for a compilation of a new voters’ register by Electoral Commission (EC) as Ghana prepares for polls December 7, 2020.
“I have listened to his argument on the compilation of the register. I must say he is a good candidate of failure”, the outspoken commentator observed when he spoke on Kumasi-based Opemsuo FM morning show
This comes after Mr. Jacob Osei Yeboah on the show insisted there should be a new register to check minors from the existing register to ensure free and fair elections despite contrast position of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) and other smaller political parties in the country.
“JOY is my friend.. We are no same WhatsApp platform. Sometimes, I appreciate his opinions on some issues of national importance like this. But for this new voters’ register, he has got everything wrong”, Mr. Awuni Akyiriba told host, George Opoku Mensah during panel discussion.
The Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC) insists that only a new voters’ register can ensure Ghana has a credible 2020 elections.
The EC since last year has justified why they need to compile a new voters’ register for the 2020 general elections.
The EC has said it wants to ensure that the register that is used on the election day is more credible and efficient than the existing one hence the need for a new Biometric Voter Management System (BVMS).
