U/R: Police Weapons Retrieved after Arrest of Nine Suspects

The Upper West Regional Police Command has arrested suspects and recovered service weapons following an attack on police officers by some youth in the Saawie community within the Jirapa Municipality.
The police reported in a statement that on Friday, December 5, 2025, a mob numbering about 30 attacked officers who were conducting enquiries at Saawie near Jirapa and dispossessed them of four (4) service weapons.
The mob are said to have injured the officers in the process.
The Regional Police Commander, DCOP/Mr. Francis Yiribaare, in response led a reinforcement team to the community and successfully rescued and evacuated the injured officers for medical attention, according to the police.
The team successfully retrieved all weapons and efforts are ongoing to retrieve two magazines, it added.
“A total of nine suspects connected to the attack have since been arrested and will put before court.”
Two of the officers who sustained varying degrees of injury were treated and discharged, while one officer with a fractured arm has been referred to the Wa Regional Hospital for further medical attention.
“The Regional Police Command strongly condemns this heinous attack on its officers and assures the public that decisive measures are being taken to ensure the safety of our officers and law-abiding residents. The Command urges residents of Saawie and neighbouring communities to cooperate with investigators and provide any information that may assist in the arrest of remaining kep suspects and recovery of outstanding items.”
