U/E: Robbers Shoot Two Police Officers to Death

Two police officers have lost their lives after they were shot by armed robbers at Poyameirea in Binduri in the Upper East Region.

The two- dressed in plain clothes- were travelling on a motorbike on Sunday from Bongo to Binduri when they were attacked.

The police in a statement said the motorbike was stolen after the attack.

Meanwhile, it is yet to inform the families of the two about the tragic incident.

“The police administration wishes to express its deepest condolences to the bereaved family, the commander as well as the officers and men in the region.”

It added that it was committed to arrested persons behind the heinous crime.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Interior has imposed a 12-hour curfew on Binduri Township and its environs from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am with immediate effect.

The decision was taken on the advice of the Upper East Regional Security Council and by Executive Instrument.

It has also banned the movement of motorbikes, tricycles, ‘aboboyaa’, and similar vehicles.

“Any person found riding motorbikes, tricycles, and ‘aboboyaa’ will be arrested and prosecuted.”
