Twelve Suspected Galamseyers Arrested at Bunso

The National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMIS) has arrested 12 suspects for illegal mining activities at Bunso in the Eastern Region.

According to a report by the Secretariat, the group were actively engaged in galamsey at Section E of the COCOBOD demonstration farm.

They were arrested on Thursday, January 8, 2026.

Following their apprehension, eight excavators were seized.

They have since been conveyed to the NAIMOS equipment base in Accra.

“The 12 suspects have also been handed over to the Police.”

This marks the third operation in the enclave, and NAIMOS intends to maintain surveillance as it prepares for full deployment in similar hotspots.
