There Was No Mistake in Peace Pact – NPP Assures Ahead of Presidential Primaries

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has assured delegates and the public that the peace pact signed by presidential aspirants ahead of the party’s primaries is free of errors and was properly reviewed before endorsement.

Chairman of the NPP Presidential Election Committee, Hon. Joseph Osei Owusu, told Kofi Boakye on Nkawantannanso on Opemsuo Radio that the document was carefully examined to ensure accuracy.

“There was no mistake in the peace pact. I read everything in the peace pact. If there was a mistake, we would have seen it. There was no mistake, and they signed peacefully,” he said.

He explained that the voting period, scheduled from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., was carefully chosen because of the manageable number of delegates expected to vote

“By 2:00 p.m., it’s our hope everyone would have voted so that we can collate and declare the results by 5:00 p.m.,” he added.

Hon. Osei Owusu also highlighted that all security responsibilities have been handed over to the Ghana Police Service, with areas prone to tensions receiving extra personnel to ensure a peaceful process.

“Places where we suggest there might be violence, the police personnel will be more than 70 there… so no one should think of causing violence or anything else. You won’t go scot-free,” he warned.

He called on all delegates to exercise discipline, assuring that the arrangements in place will ensure a smooth and orderly election.
