Thank You; ECG On Last Day Of Moratorium

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has appreciated its customers for their cooperation during the period of the respite.

“We wish to thank our customers and stakeholders for their cooperation and support during the moratorium”

The ECG is confident the exercise will go a long way in resolving the billing and metering anomalies.

In June 2022, the ECG announced it was granting its customers respite from sanctions that accompany the illegal use of electricity and urged such to report to ECG District or Regional offices for rectification.

Customers with post-paid metres but do not receive bills; prepaid customers who do not purchase electricity credits; customers who have bypassed or tampered with their metres and are therefore not paying for the full cost of power usage; and customers who have engaged in any form of electrical illegality were earmarked to enjoy this moratorium.

Initially scheduled to end on July 6, 2022, it was extended to July 20, 2022, due to “the positive feedback from their customers ‘.

The ECG earlier noted that customers who will be caught “stealing” electricity will be charged with the offence of stealing in accordance with the law after the Moratorium.
