Tepa: Couple Burnt To Death In Road Accident
A married couple has been burnt to death after their motorbike was set alight at Meredane, a community along the Betiako-Tepa road in the Ahafo Ano North Municipality in the Ashanti Region.
The victims have been identified as Mr. Kwabena Tabi and Mrs. Pinamang.
According to Opemsuo Radio’s Nana Adeamuoduro, the incident occurred on February 15 during the Tepa market day when the couple set out for work.
“A taxi using the same stretch of road had an uncovered gallon of petrol on the car which fell and ignited fire as soon as the motorbike of the couple got to the scene setting them ablaze and dragging them off into neighbouring farms,” a report filed by the Opemsuo Radio reporter said.
The prompt intervention of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) helped to salvage the unfortunate event and prevent the fire from escalating, while the couple were swiftly taken to the Tepa hospital.
Nana Adeamuoduro reported that the victims were later referred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) and both unfortunately passed away on Sunday, February 18.
They left behind seven kids, with the youngest being just one and a half years old.
Meanwhile, the taxi driver at the centre of the accident had his car impounded last week and is expected to report to the police today, February 19, 2024.
