Teenager Arrested for Knocking Out Ridge Hospital Security Guard

An 18-year-old is in the grips of the police after he assaulted a security officer of the Greater Accra Regional Hospital, also known as Ridge Hospital.

The incident happened on February 18, 2026, around 7 pm, when the suspect, identified as Gabriel Dimson, accompanied his mother and a friend to the Hospital and proceeded to the Labour Ward.

“The suspect was directed by the security officer to move to the reception area, as it was unauthorised for visitors to stand at the entrance of the ward outside approved visiting hours,” it reported in a statement.

The suspect reportedly refused to comply with the directive, proceeded to push the officer to the ground and physically assaulted him to unconsciousness.

Doctors on duty immediately attended to him as he remains on admission and is responding to treatment.

“The incident was reported to the Ghana Police Service at the Adabraka District Police Command. The suspect has been arrested, and the police are assisting with investigations and subsequent prosecution,” the hospital said.

Management, while condemning the assault, stated that it will not condone any form of violence against its staff.

“Our security officers play a critical role in enforcing Hospital policies designed to protect patients, visitors, and healthcare workers.”

It further urged the public to cooperate with Hospital staff and comply with established guidelines, including visiting protocols, to ensure a safe and orderly healthcare environment.
