My music career has not ended, I’m still doing it- Amakye Dede


Ghanaian highlife legend Amakye Dede popularly known as ‘Iron Boy’ or ‘Abrantie’ is scheduled to release a new song with Sarkodie in the coming weeks.

Speaking on an Accra-based radio station, Amakye Dede said he is still in the music business contrary to the perception that his music career has been ended.

The Ghanaian highlife legend says he chose to collaborate with Sarkodie because he is very good and respectful

“I’ve played with him in London. I played with him in Kumasi and it was marvelous. He’s very good and very respectful so I chose to collaborate with him,” he added.

“It’s a nice, beautiful music which will be out soon,” the veteran musician said.

Amakye Dede is credited with hits like ‘Handkerchief,’ ‘Seniwa,’ ‘Beberebe Yi,’ ‘Mensuro,’ ‘Mabre,’ ‘Broken Promises,’ ‘Nsuo Amuna,’ ‘Sokoo na mmaa pe,’ ‘To be a man na war,’ and ‘Iron Boy,’ among others.

Dan Amakye Dede is one of Ghana’s foremost highlife artists, popularly referred to as “Iron Boy”, “the highlife maestro” and “Abrantie” (English: Gentleman). Amakye Dede is credited with over 20 albums. In his later career, he experimented with different genres; soca, calypso, lovers rock, and pop music. He hails from Asante-Akyem Agogo in the Ashanti Region.
